Sen. Bong Revilla Indirectly Promotes Piracy and Splogs

September 3, 2008 · Comments

I just finished reviewing my sensor logs GameOPS‘ recent comments when I stumbled upon a comment from Mobisop. His (her?) comment was posted on an article announcing the release of HighStreet 5 in the Philippines. Mobisop said that the game would be a great game. Curious, I clicked his name which brought me to his website.

The website turns out to be a subdomain of Resiklo.com, the official website of the movie Resiklo. To those who don’t know, Resiklo was the 2007 Metro Manila Film Fest’s Best Picture and a movie by Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. MOBISOP claims to be a movie and software review blog.

Click image for more detailed info

Well this blog doesn’t seem to be a “review blog” at all. All it offers are links to warez and cracked applications and ways for you to watch movies online. But clicking deeper into this, you won’t see any cracked applications or ways to watch movies online.

The blog tricks you to click and click links until your reach a site where it will only describe that certain movie or warez you’re looking for. The sites you’ll encounter will also warn you that watching a movie online or using cracks/warez is illegal. In other words, the sites you’ve been through are all SPLOGS. PERIOD.

Okay guys, what’s wrong with this?

I don’t know what you guys think but being the star and producer of the movie Resiklo, Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. is indirectly promoting illegal movies, warez and cracked applications online just by the use of his domain. Though he’s actually not the one doing it, it’s still his responsibility to check his websites now and then. Right?

We’re just fresh from the news that Anino Games Inc. got caught by the NBI for using illegal and pirated copies of Autodesk softwares. Now another big wig is joining them and unfortunately, he’s an official of the Republic of the Philippines.

What would Chairman Edu Manzano think off if he learns about this? Another word war? :~)

Social Median Opens to public

August 2, 2008 · Comments

Hey guys are you the type of bloggers who are always craving for Links. This is just to inform you that there is a Social Media Site which was recently open for public use

a new social news network that is working on solving the information overload problem, opened its website to the public today. The public launch follows a four-month invite-only alpha period with more than 4300 participants from around the world. The socialmedian site is a public beta and continues to be a work in progress. The company’s model is to ship new features and enhancements every other day in direct response to user feedback.

We still don’t know if it will hit like digg, Stumble or others. But I believe that this site can help a lot when it comes to SEO.

Google Knol Out to Public

July 24, 2008 · Comments

Google had just opened the Google Knol to the public. As I can see Google Knol is like Wikipedia but in a different form. Articles are written by individuals. I don’t know if there is an earning opportunity with the system.

Knols are authoritative articles about specific topics, written by people who know about those subjects. Today, we’re making Knol available to everyone.

The web contains vast amounts of information, but not everything worth knowing is on the web. An enormous amount of information resides in people’s heads: millions of people know useful things and billions more could benefit from that knowledge. Knol will encourage these people to contribute their knowledge online and make it accessible to everyone.

It is also like a blog. In order to know that the person writing is real, they have made a system in order to verify a person thru phone verification. I have tried to do the verification but the system is only available in  US.

In an SEO point of view, I think it can help. Because you can make articles and make link back to your site. Well I still have to test the system.

Search Engine Optimization for Techies

June 25, 2008 · 4 Comments

Search engine optimization or SEO is a must-do for any website that wants to be found on the internet. In this modern age of online computing, it can be said that new websites won’t stand a chance of being found without search engines. But there is a problem…

The problem is that most web developers don’t care about search engine optimization when they design and create websites. All they think about is functionality and quite possibly appearance. They create beautiful web designs in Photoshop, chop the images and slap them into their HTML code. They type in the required text, maybe add a few flash animations here and there and that’s it!

They go on showcasing their new design and tries to impress their client (or their boss) with how beautiful the website is. The boss (who might not know any SEO at all) would show a happy face and expect people to come rushing in to their website because it looks beautiful.

But that’s just not it!

It is quite common for hired SEOs to tackle optimization stuff with the web developers and oftentimes, the web developers won’t budge making excuses such as “but the site is already working” and “we can’t make those changes” and so on. It appears to me that many web developers just don’t see the benefits of search engine optimization. But for you who wants to learn what you need to do, it’s actually pretty easy.

It’s just a matter of making little changes in the way you code!

Yes, it’s just that. If you do it right to begin with then chances are your boss won’t even need to hire an SEO. Or if you’re doing web development work for your own client, then that means more “selling points” and therefore “higher value” to your product.

Here’s a quick guide to get you started: Web Design with Search Engine Optimization in Mind

Blogging Lessons Learned During Vacation

June 24, 2008 · 3 Comments

I was planning to make a post at my blog about my recent vacation in the Philippines but now I have decided to post it here.

When I went on a vacation, I thought it will depreciate my visitors and AdSense Earnings because of the following concerns:

  1. Lack of daily updates
  2. Short time for Research
  3. Short time for Comments Response
  4. Delayed E-mail Response
  5. Busy days in IRL ( In Real Life )

So what happened during my vacation? BTW, I asked my readers to have a guest post but nobody did :(

This information might be very useful to those bloggers that will be going on a vacation.

So here are my suggestions:

Relax and Enjoy your vacation.

I was not able to prepare advance post before my vacation. So what I learn visitors come at your site since they want to learn more from you. They also like the real things that are happening in your life like what you are doing during your vacation, great things that you see during your vacation and other stuff that might give more information on who you are.

Visitors visit your blog because they want your opinion and how you will increase your online reputation is just to be yourself. You don’t have to pretend to be someone else when in fact you are not.

Attend Real Life Bloggers’ Gatherings

I was fortunate to have attended 2 bloggers’ events: The Trinoma Food Tour and Iblog4. It was indeed a nice gathering since I got a chance to network with other bloggers whom I interact only in online Community.

Research

It is useless to research whole day and end up on researching nothing. Better subscribe immediately to those blogs that you encountered and always check your reader once or twice a day. Know the proper tools that will be suitable for your needs in order to have the fresh information. I suggest you to be connected in Twitter, where most of the known bloggers are now using to promote their latest posts. I also believe in the saying that it is not how many follow you but it is how many you follow”. By following other bloggers, you get a chance to get updates from them which can give a better idea on how to prosper more at your niche. Of course you need to know who are the people within your niche.

You can write more when your browser is closed. Finish your article and find keywords which you can link to your previous post and check what keywords or anchor text that you can link to your friends or newly found friends.

Busy days in IRL ( In Real Life )

What makes you busy? Blog about it. Hey you are not running a NEWS site , you are running a blog site. Why don’t you blog a little “real you” while on vacation and let’s forget about your niche or connect the reality in your niche. I cab say it is effective and promotes interaction within your blog.

Short Time for Comments Response

You can respond to your blog’s comments just once a day. And give your response as brief as possible but it should have an answer for the question thrown at you. If you need to make a long response, why not just make it a new topic for your next post instead. Commenters know that you are in a vacation so I know that they can wait for your response.

Make a Search Engine Optimized Post and then enjoy passive income. So the next time I will have my vacation, I will still enjoy it and share my experience.
