Search Engine Optimization for Techies

Search engine optimization or SEO is a must-do for any website that wants to be found on the internet. In this modern age of online computing, it can be said that new websites won’t stand a chance of being found without search engines. But there is a problem…

The problem is that most web developers don’t care about search engine optimization when they design and create websites. All they think about is functionality and quite possibly appearance. They create beautiful web designs in Photoshop, chop the images and slap them into their HTML code. They type in the required text, maybe add a few flash animations here and there and that’s it!

They go on showcasing their new design and tries to impress their client (or their boss) with how beautiful the website is. The boss (who might not know any SEO at all) would show a happy face and expect people to come rushing in to their website because it looks beautiful.

But that’s just not it!

It is quite common for hired SEOs to tackle optimization stuff with the web developers and oftentimes, the web developers won’t budge making excuses such as “but the site is already working” and “we can’t make those changes” and so on. It appears to me that many web developers just don’t see the benefits of search engine optimization. But for you who wants to learn what you need to do, it’s actually pretty easy.

It’s just a matter of making little changes in the way you code!

Yes, it’s just that. If you do it right to begin with then chances are your boss won’t even need to hire an SEO. Or if you’re doing web development work for your own client, then that means more “selling points” and therefore “higher value” to your product.
